Update : 11 June

Standard

Dear Parents/Carers,

First of all, a huge well done to all of our pupils and thanks to all of those who supported our Race for Life Event yesterday.  As usual, pupils embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and it was a joy to see!  Over £1000 has been raised for Cancer Research UK which is fantastic!

As is often the case in June, there are several events happening over the next couple of weeks that we wish to highlight;

30th Anniversary Celebrations

On Monday, we will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of PPS.  We are hoping, weather permitting, to celebrate with a playground party on Monday afternoon.  Pupils have been learning a dance, choreographed by Ailsa at Skyedance which we will all perform as part of our celebration.  Cake and Ice cream will be served and everyone is encouraged to wear their party clothes on Monday.  RadioSkye will be featuring the celebrations as part of their drive time show on Monday which will feature interviews by staff and pupils.

School Picnic

On Thursday 17th June, we hope to hold our school picnic.  The canteen will provide a picnic themed lunch at the school and we will then take each class down to the King George V pitch for an afternoon of games.  Pupils will remain in their class groupings for the duration of the event to adhere to our risk assessment.  We wish to use this day to support the work of the local foodbank and pupils are encouraged to take in a food donation if they wish.  We have been in touch with the Foodbank to see if there are particular items they are short of at the moment and will share that information as we get it.

End of Term

A reminder that we will break up for the summer holiday on Friday 25th June at noon.  Transport providers are not able to adjust schedules and parents are asked to make arrangements to collect children at noon.

Summer Payments to Families

Eligible families will receive support to help with meals over the summer school holidays. The payment will be made to the Parent or Carer whom is noted as first point of contact by the school,  as shared by the Parent or Carer. Please contact the school if you need to update any information previously shared with the us.

Transition

We were very disappointed to have to cancel our transition activities again this week and are very understanding of the anxiety that the uncertainty around classes for next year is causing.  I have been in touch with our Area Education Manager again today and he has confirmed that this is council wide and that no schools have been able to confirm staffing yet for next year.  The only guarantee is that staffing will be known by the end of session.  You will be aware of our current circumstances in regard to composite class possibilities and what I have agreed this morning is that we will issue letters on Monday indicating which class your child/ren will be in should we have to go down the composite class route.  Please note that this is not yet guaranteed but I feel that you should have as much notice as possible of what the change, if required, might entail.  This is an ever changing situation and we will keep you informed as this develops.  We thank you for your understanding and support through this.

Please be in touch with any questions or concerns you may have.

Regards,

Sara
