Dear Parents/Carers,
Just a couple of items to bring your attention to this week. We are hopeful that we will have further information around staffing and classes for next session over the course of next week.
As a reminder, Monday is an additional inset day and pupils will not be in school.
Next Wednesday we will hold our Race For Life to raise money for Cancer Research. As with all fundraising organisations, there has been a significant impact on their ability to raise money over the past year and we are hopeful that this event will help in that endeavour. Pupils can choose to walk or run the course which will be set around the KGV pitch in Portree and are encouraged to dress as “heroes” to help us mark the year that has passed. Pupils will have the opportunity to run in honour of someone special and will have the opportunity to write a race card to wear on the day. Donations are very welcome and can be brought in on the day or donated online via https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/portree-primary-school
All pupils will receive a medal on completion of the course.
Monday 14th June is the 30th Anniversary of PPS. Pupils are encouraged to wear their party clothes to school and we will celebrate with a playground party in the afternoon. Skyedance are preparing a dance for us all to learn to a top hit from 1991 (the year the school opened)and this will be performed all together as part of our celebrations. Radio Skye will be helping us with their PA system in the afternoon and will feature the celebrations on air later in the afternoon, including interviews by pupils.
We will issue 3 new Makaton signs early next week once these have been introduced to the pupils.
Again, we hope to issue further information next week and in the meantime we wish you all a lovely long weekend!
Regards,
Sara
