Highlights from this week:
~ Our Bake Sale last Friday was such a success. The amazing total raised was… £512.37!! A huge thank you to our whole school community for supporting Hamish and his family in their fundraising endeavours. More details will be sent out about our whole school trip on the Waverley after the Easter Holidays.
~ Our Primary 4-7 pupils took part in the second set of curling taster sessions on Tuesday, delivered by Sarah Ross from Active Schools Portree. We have some real curling enthusiasts!
Reminders and Notices
Cross Country Event
The Cross-Country event will take place tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting. Due to the current weather conditions, the King George pitches will be unusable, and as a result this event will now be for P5–7 pupils only.
The race for our older pupils will take place at Portree High School, led by Sarah Ross and the Active Schools team. A final route is still being confirmed. With this change of venue and the short notice, parents and carers will not be in attendance for this event.
We will organise a separate Cross-Country event for our younger pupils (P1–4) after the Easter holidays, when we hope for more favourable weather and conditions.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
End of term Church Service
Our end of term Church service will take place tomorrow at Shepherds Way. We will aim to start at 9:30am. All families are warmly welcomed to join us. We will be collecting for Young Carers at the service and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Annual Data Checks and Medical Information
We are currently updating our medical records and must have the most up to date information. If your child has/had a medical condition, which we have recorded on our system, and their condition has changed, or no longer exists, it is important that you contact the school office to notify us as soon as possible.
Reporting absence
Please refer to the school’s communication policy when reporting absence. All absence reporting should be sent via email or phone call through the school office. This is to ensure that key information is passed on correctly and we have an up-to-date register in the event of an emergency.
Drop-off and Collection of Pupils
A reminder that we have a designated pupil pick-up/drop-off point at the Camanachd Square car park (near Community Centre and Portree Nursery), and a crossing patrol on Home Farm Road to help pupils cross safely. It would be very helpful if families could use this area as much as possible to reduce traffic around the school. Please also respect our neighbours around the school by not blocking driveways and be aware that Marsco Place and Glamaig Place are unadopted roads, meaning it is the residents of these streets that are responsible for them rather than Highland Council. We are hopeful that the yellow zig zag lines will be reinstated outside of our school entrance in the next few weeks. After the Easter Holidays, the gates to school will be closed while Mrs MacSween is carrying out her duties to ensure the safety of all of our pupils.
Thank you for your support with this.
Important – Pupils taking bus
Pupils who take the bus to school, but who are not eligible for free school transport must be in possession of their Young Scot/National Entitlement card.
If you are unsure about whether your child is entitled to free school transport, you can check eligibility at this link: https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/878/schools/12/school_transport or be in touch with the school and we’ll let you know.
If your child does not have a Young Scot/National Entitlement card you can apply for one at this link: https://young.scot/get-informed/young-persons-free-bus-travel/
