Weekly Update 27th March

Highlights from this week:

~ Red Nose Day 2026 – Our Primary 4 pupils and Mrs MacAskill worked incredibly hard to organise lots of fun activities to help raise money for Red Nose Day. All of the children had a super time, and we raised a huge amount of money for a great cause. Thank you to all our families for supporting us!

~ Our Primary 4-7 pupils were invited to take part in curling taster sessions on Monday, delivered by Sarah Ross from Active Schools Portree. All of the pupils had the best time and really showed off their skills! Thank you to Sarah for organising such a great event. There is another curling session organised for next Tuesday.

World Down Syndrome Day 2026

We celebrated World Down Syndrome Day 2026 this week. Thanks to our families for supporting us. We truly appreciate this!

Reminders and Notices

Reporting absence

Please refer to the school’s communication policy when reporting absence. All absence reporting should be sent via email or phone call through the school office. This is to ensure that key information is passed on correctly and we have an up-to-date register in the event of an emergency.

Drop-off and Collection of Pupils

A reminder that we have a designated pupil pick-up/drop-off point at the Camanachd Square car park (near Community Centre and Portree Nursery), and a crossing patrol on Home Farm Road to help pupils cross safely.  It would be very helpful if families could use this area as much as possible to reduce traffic around the school.  Please also respect our neighbours around the school by not blocking driveways and be aware that Marsco Place and Glamaig Place are unadopted roads, meaning it is the residents of these streets that are responsible for them rather than Highland Council. We are hopeful that the yellow zig zag lines will be reinstated outside of our school entrance in the next few weeks. After the Easter Holidays, the gates to school will be closed while Mrs MacSween is carrying out her duties to ensure the safety of all of our pupils.

Thank you for your support with this.

Important – Pupils taking bus

Pupils who take the bus to school, but who are not eligible for free school transport must be in possession of their Young Scot/National Entitlement card.

If you are unsure about whether your child is entitled to free school transport, you can check eligibility at this link: https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/878/schools/12/school_transport or be in touch with the school and we’ll let you know.

If your child does not have a Young Scot/National Entitlement card you can apply for one at this link: https://young.scot/get-informed/young-persons-free-bus-travel/
