~ Our Movie Night last week was a great success. Thank you to our Parent Council for organising this event and to Fiona in the office for her help with tickets. Thanks to our families for supporting this event as well. We raised £273.
~ Our World Book Day activities last week were fantastic. Thank you to all parents for supporting us with this. All of our pupils loved sharing their love of reading, especially during our ‘Big Read’.
~ We were lucky to have been visited by a travelling theatre company this week. Our Primary 1-4 pupils watched ‘The Ideas Jukebox’ and our Primary 5-7 pupils watched ‘Maya and the Whale’. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed these performances, which were fully funded by Seall Events, and we are so grateful to have been offered this opportunity.
~ Our Primary 6 pupils were invited to the Fingal Centre this week to take part in a basketball festival. They all represented our school wonderfully. Primary 7 pupils will be going down next Tuesday (17th March).
~ Mrs Deplano worked with a group of pupils this week to plant some apple trees, which were gifted to the school. Each tree represents a different House group, and each House group will need to care and nurture their tree.
Reminders and Notices
Comic Relief
The Primary 4 Enterprise fundraiser this year is for Comic Relief. There will be different activities happening over the week; more detailed information has been sent out. Start saving your change 😊
The class are still looking for donations towards a toys stall. These can be dropped off at reception or pupils can take them along to the P4 class from Monday 16th March.
Bake Sale
We are delighted to let you know that we will be holding a whole‑school Bake Sale to help raise funds for our upcoming school trip in support of Hamish. To make the event a success, we are kindly asking for donations of home baking. If you are able to contribute, please send your baking to the front office on Friday 27th March, clearly labelled with a full list of ingredients. Throughout the morning, pupils will have the opportunity to purchase cakes and treats. We will also be running a raffle, with tickets available to buy on the day. Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us in school from 12 noon onwards to purchase cakes and buy raffle tickets. We would love to see as many of you as possible. As always, we are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support. Your contributions make a real difference to our school community.
Parents Evenings
Parent’s Evenings will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday (17th and 18th) of March. The Parents Evening booking system will close on Monday the 16th of March.
World Down Syndrome Day 2026
World Down Syndrome Day 2026 is on Saturday the 21st of March this year. To mark this day, we would like to invite all pupils to wear their most colourful socks to school on Monday the 23rd of March.
Toys
Can we ask our families to ensure that pupils are not bringing toys in to school, where possible. We are finding we spend a lot of time searching for lost toys, repairing broken toys and sorting out fallouts over toys. If pupils bring toys to school, we ask that they are kept in school bags during the day to avoid these instances.
Drop-off and Collection of Pupils
A reminder that we have a designated pupil pick-up/drop-off point at the Camanachd Square car park (near Community Centre and Portree Nursery), and a crossing patrol on Home Farm Road to help pupils cross safely. It would be very helpful if families could use this area as much as possible to reduce traffic around the school. Please also respect our neighbours around the school by not blocking driveways and be aware that Marsco Place and Glamaig Place are unadopted roads, meaning it is the residents of these streets that are responsible for them rather than Highland Council. We are hopeful that the yellow zig zag lines will be reinstated outside of our school entrance in the next few weeks. After the Easter Holidays, the gates to school will be closed while Mrs MacSween is carrying out her duties to ensure the safety of all of our pupils.
Thank you for your support with this.
Important – Pupils taking bus
Pupils who take the bus to school, but who are not eligible for free school transport must be in possession of their Young Scot/National Entitlement card.
If you are unsure about whether your child is entitled to free school transport, you can check eligibility at this link: https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/878/schools/12/school_transport or be in touch with the school and we’ll let you know.
