Weekly Update 23rd January

Dear Parents/carers,

Please see our weekly update below.

Highlights from this week:

Our Robert Burns Assembly went well this morning, with so many of our pupils showing confidence, enthusiasm and bravery! We’ll pop some pictures up on our Facebook page in the coming days so keep your eyes peeled. Radio Skye recorded some of our performers as well so keep your ears peeled too!

Our Primary 6 pupils attended a funded Ice-Skating session yesterday. What fun they had. A huge thankyou to Lorna and the Portree and Braes Community Council for supporting us with this.

Mowi have donated £500 towards the cost of our Primary 7 leavers hoodies. We are so grateful to them and their support. We now look forward to the hoodies arriving in the coming weeks.

The Parent Council had a successful meeting this week to organise some fundraisers in the coming months. The first is a movie night, which will take place on Friday the 6th of March and the second will be a Valentines Raffle to win a beautiful Valentines hamper. More details for these events will follow. Please, if you feel this is something you can take part in, come along to our meetings. The Parent Council work so hard to provide our pupils with opportunities and we value any and all support that our families can give.

Reminders and Notices

~ Cookery Club starts back today – Good luck to our Young Leaders and thankyou to our staff, who are supervising this.

~ Mrs Deplano has been busy organising a ‘Spring Clean’ for Monday the 16th of February so if you are able, please come along and support the school to make our playground and green spaces as fantastic as they can be. Also, if any families have spare bulbs, tools, wood paint, gardening items that you no longer need, please send them our way as we will definitely make use of them. Keep an eye out for further information, including timings, in the coming weeks.

~ I have received a number of complaints from our bus drivers about the conduct of some of our pupils on the bus. Can all parents/carers of pupils who take the bus, please remind children that they must always wear their seat belts and ensure that they are being safe and respectful at all times. Thank you for your support with this.

Drop-off and Collection of Pupils

A reminder that we have a designated pupil pick-up/drop-off point at the Camanachd Square car park (near Community Centre and Portree Nursery), and a crossing patrol on Home Farm Road to help pupils cross safely.  It would be very helpful if families could use this area as much as possible to reduce traffic around the school.  Please also respect our neighbours around the school by not blocking driveways and be aware that Marsco Place and Glamaig Place are unadopted roads, meaning it is the residents of these streets that are responsible for them rather than Highland Council. We are hopeful that the yellow zig zag lines will be reinstated outside of our school entrance in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your support with this.

Important – Pupils taking bus

A reminder for pupils who take the bus to school:
