Weekly Update 27th September

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please see our weekly update below as well as some documents attached to this email:

  1. Soccer 7s Permission Slip
  2. Blythswood Appeal Letter from P2/3 class
  3. Blythswood Appeal Checklist

Soccer 7s

The next Soccer 7s event takes place in Portree on Saturday 5th October at 10.30am.  Permission slips have gone home today to interested pupils (and also attached to this email) and these must be returned by Tuesday 1st October.  Parents may complete this permission slip on paper in the traditional way, or online if they prefer through this link.

Please note that I must submit teams to the organiser by 5pm on Tuesday 1st, therefore any late permission slips will not be accepted.

Scholastic Bookfair

Bookfair orders arrived in the school this week and were passed on to pupils today.  I hope everyone enjoys their new books!

Thank you everyone for your support with the bookfair.  I was delighted with the interest it generated, and the high level of sales achieved.  The school earned a high commission on sales which means we will be able to buy over £500 worth of books for our classrooms and library.

Community Café

The Primary 5 class will be hosting a Community Café at the school on Friday 4th October at 11am.  This will be fundraising to support the Skye & Lochalsh branch of British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

As always, everyone is welcome to come along for a tea/coffee and some lovely home baking.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Blythswood Shoebox Appeal

Our P2/3 class are currently organising the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal.  Please see full details in the letter and checklist attached to this email, but please note the following information:

Donations can begin to come in now but need to be in school at the latest for Friday 1st of November,  and full shoeboxes must be with us by Thursday the 7th of  November.

Kids Clothing and Toy Swap – Broadford

Nut Allergy Alert

Please see information below from Highland Council Catering Service:

The Food Standards Agency is advising people who have a peanut allergy to avoid consuming foods that contain or may contain mustard, mustard powder or mustard flour because they may have been contaminated with peanuts.

Catering services have consulted our suppliers, Brakes.  Although they are not supplied by the company at the centre of this issue, they are taking the extra precaution of checking the products they supply for possible contamination.

Catering services have alerted all our cooks to the products in question and they have been advised to ensure none of these products are used in any items provided to the pupils we have registered with a nut allergy until further notice.  Where possible alternative products have been advised.
