The Parent Forum was defined by the 2006 act on parental involvement and all parents who have a child in the school are automatically members.
Parent Council members are voted on every year at the Parent Council Annual General Meeting (normally held in September each year).
Parent Forum members who are unable to attend Parent Council meetings or be part of the Parent Council are always welcome to help in other ways, particularly at fundraising events through the year. Extra hands are good – email us if you can help in general or with specific tasks.
The main duties of the Parent Council are:
– To represent the views of the parents at the school
– Support the work of the school
– Organise social and fundraising events
– Promote contact between all parents and the rest of the school community
– Discuss any issue that is of interest to parents
– Represent parents’ views to the education authority
Fundraising events include: Hallowe’en Disco, Christmas Fayre, Family Quiz Night, Soup and Pudding lunch.

Other activities over the last few years: Protecting Classroom Assistants, Fighting Budget Cuts, Raising funds for new playground, Stalling the implementation of the new Facilities Management model which replaces janitorial services, attending annual conference with other Highland Parent Council chairpersons.
